Welcome to the Pacific Sporthorse Selection (PSS) web site!

With the PSS event we are meeting the needs of both, buyers and sellers, in today’s challenging sporthorse market. We realize that both parties face significant challenges: buyers have the overwhelming task of sorting through horses in a flooded market while sellers face the challenge of making their horse stand out from the rest of the pack.

Benefits to the buyer

The PSS benefits the buyer by bringing dozens of pre-selected, pre-vetted, top quality horses together in one event.  Buyers will have the opportunity to choose their new equine partner from a large selection of talented young prospects and show proven sporthorses.  Our pre-selection and pre-vetting process enables buyers to save time and money when choosing their new partner.

The horses are pre-selected from across the West Coast by a committee of judges, breed specialists and other equestrian experts, including Lilo Fore, Melissa Creswick, William Solyntjes, and Christiane Noelting. After the pre-selection, qualified horses must have a vet check and set of x-rays taken.  These results are then reviewed by Pioneer Equine Hospital and only those candidates with approved vet check results and x-rays are accepted into the auction. (These exam results and x-rays will be available for buyers and their veterinarians to review.)  The horses begin professional training 5 weeks before the auction and will be available for test rides several weeks prior to the PSS event. Interested buyers have the option of completing a more comprehensive veterinary exam or they can take advantage of our onsite veterinarian to discuss x-rays and other requests.

Benefits to the seller

The PSS offers breeders and sellers across the West Coast a cost effective and comprehensive marketing opportunity to present their horses to a large audience interested in top quality sporthorses. The horses are presented to their best advantage at a premier facility by professional riders and grooms who work to prepare the horses for 5 weeks preceding the auction. PSS invests in professional photography and videography to market the horses in venues including Dressage Today Magazine, Euro-Dressage, Sporthorse-Selection web site, social media, and e-mails to name just a few. Auction management handles all the details of the sales process including scheduling test rides and further vet checks.

On Sunday, September 1, 2013, the Pacific Sporthorse Selection Auction will be held at the Christiane Noelting Dressage Center in Vacaville, CA – one of the finest equestrian facilities on the West Coast. In addition to the top quality riding horses, we will present a fine collection of well bred foals for sale as well.

We expect to have detailed information by late July about the horses who will be presented in the Pacific Sporthorse Selection. Professional videos and photos will be on the website by early August. Please contact us with any questions you may have.
